Therapeutic Yoga

Time: 02/27/2012 @ 11:45 am - 12:45 pm
Location: RSY Surya Room
Class: Therapeutic Yoga

This is a class designed for anyone with injury or physical limitation(s) that precludes attending your normal Yoga class or advancing further in your practice. If you are in PT (Physical Therapy) or recently completed PT and are still uncertain about your movement abilities, then this is the class for you.

You will be given a routine to work on that allows movement that is free from pain or injury and accelerates your healing process.

You must pre-register as this class is limited to 5 students. If you are not a student at Rising Sun, then you must have a private session with Michael prior to attending this class so that you can be evaluated beforehand.

The benefits of therapeutic yoga include:

  • Stress relief
  • Strengthening weak muscles, stretching tight ones
  • Improving posture and balance
  • Enhancing energy flow to stimulate the body's own natural healing processes
  • Relief for a wide range of chronic conditions including back pain, hypertension, asthma, depression, carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia

NOTE: Currently in the United States, more than 100 clinical trials are under way examining yoga's benefits for a variety of conditions, including insomnia, heart failure, pediatric headaches, epilepsy, diabetes, obesity, hot flashes, arthritis, post-traumatic stress disorder, and cigarette addiction. An emerging body of literature suggests that yoga can relieve a wide array of ailments, ranging from chronic low-back pain to hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Your class pass can be applied to this class with the difference paid in cash. The cost of the class is $20.
