Easy Yoga
A class that brings basic movement to the body to increase flexibility, reduce joint and muscle pain, and improve range of motion. Great for those with injuries, arthritis and chronic conditions. The person with challenges and questions finds this a great starting place. There is lots of stretching.
Halloween Yoga Class
This will be an Easy Yoga Class that anyone can attend. A celebration follows after the class.
Hatha Yoga Basics
A 6 week class that teaches the basic essentials of yoga to prepare you to take a Level 1 class. Requires six students. Pre-registration required.
Hatha Yoga I
This class teaches the basics of yoga, the use of props, alignment principles, and proper breathing in an easy, gentle manner allowing you to progress at your own pace.
Hatha Yoga II
This class builds upon Hatha Yoga I, and introduces more advanced poses held for a longer duration.

Meditation Class
Meditation is a gentle
way to relax the body, attain clarity of mind, and enjoy a peaceful heart. This
is important in living a happy, healthy, and harmonious life. Through
meditation the individual learns to reach deep relaxation in a peaceful setting
while sitting in a comfortable position. This is also beneficial for those who
may have health related concerns/injuries.
In meditation, we
will be sitting upright in a chair or on the floor if you choose, utilizing different tools and techniques
such as: breath-work, visualization, mantra, and more.
Meditation, Open
This class teaches you how to relax, focus and move into deeper levels of concentration. It teaches you how to relieve and eliminate anxiety, cope with the stress in your life and calm your self. You will be taught different methods of meditation from quieting the mind to focusing on the breath or an object or a thought to visualizations to affirming-type meditations. You will also prepare the body to sit comfortably and practice stillness.
Those who attend find that they are able to still the body and calm the mind by softening within and letting go of the internal chatter in the mind. This class is a life saver.Mixed Level Yoga
This class is for any level of yoga student from beginner through intermediate to advanced. The class is a bit more demanding than a Level I or Gentle yoga class, but even the novice can move in concert with those who are more experienced. Depending on the mix of students in this class, the instructor will either keep it simple or increase the level of difficulty.

Private yoga and meditation for the bride-to-be
On the morning of the wedding, a yoga instructor will meet you at your house for a private yoga/meditation session to help relax you, release any tension and anxiety you may be feeling and stretch those tight muscles. This is a simple and beautiful gift to your self, your fiance' or someone you know who is getting married and would appreciate the relaxation that yoga and meditation bring.

Salsa for Beginners
Do you want to have fun and get a great workout while meeting new people and learning an exciting new dance? Salsa dancing is known for it’s fun, upbeat music, spicy, Latin cultural influences and friendly community interactions. In Salsa for the Beginners class, you will learn: to hear and decipher the beats in salsa music, to dance on time with the basic steps, the Latin motion and body movement and; the fundamental partner moves that can be built upon in higher level classes.
We will work on all the basic steps and techniques of partnering which includes alternating turns with your partner and cross body leads. Technique and timing are a large focus of this class! If you need help with these elements, this class is PERFECT for you.

Salsa for Intermediate to Advanced Dancers on 1
You MUST have a HIGH proficiency in timing (dancing on the 1 of the music consistently), great technique with your lead and follow, and the ability to pick up new moves easily and quickly! We will work on shines, partner sequences, and styling within the moves while focusing on proper technique and performing the movements to the timing of the music.
Samba
Samba! ....Afro-Brazilian dance is a great way to pump you up and let your spirits soar. Class consists of a warm up with stretching, breathing, and meditation to get us in the zone and free us up to move to the high spirited Afro-Brazilian rhythms. A great way to rejuvunate and release stress as you explore African based movements infused with South American grooves. This is NOT partner dancing...think more of a community celebration...with room for improv. Appropriate for everyone...wear comfortable clothing...no shoes...
Tai Ji Quan (Tai Chi)
Chen style Tai Ji Quan is a martial art. Chen style blends the beautiful, powerful, strong and fluid technique of "silk-reeling" with the artistic gracefulness of slow, focused, relaxed movement. Thus, Chen style is movement flowing between slow and fast, soft and hard, yin and yang.
Chen style is the study of when and how to appropriately resist or yield, use strength or flexibility, choose aggression or passivity. It is, as such, physically and mentally engaging, offering not only soothing therapy for the joints, muscles and bones, but also a meditative practice that trains the mind through practiced focus.
Chen style takes time to learn. It takes time to balance strength with flexibility, meditation with movement, and the alignment of Mind and Body with Spirit. Chen style as a practice offers that balance.
To take this class, experience is recommended.
Thanksgiving Class
This is a free class given and taught by Michael Sutton as a thank you to all the students who come to Rising Sun Yoga. This is a mixed level class.
The Impact of Self-Sacrifice in Our Daily Lives
In this series of classes, we will explore the patterns and dynamics of self-sacrifice as a social and psychological influence on female thinking and behavior as well as interventions for positive change.
Sessions will explore issues relating to self-sacrifice such as feelings of inadequacy, negative internal messages, and the inability to trust and participate in healthy friendships and relationships. We will also explore the egalitarian role women have developed in response to cultural and societal changes.

The Yoga Practice
The 'Practice' is a class wherein you will either follow the instructor as s/he performs her/his own practice or you will 'do your own thing'. Previous yoga experience required. Be prepared to work as you move continuously either with the instructor or on your own. This class will help you to develop your own practice at home. It teaches you to become confident that you can do a yoga practice on your own without the instruction or motivation of another.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga II
This class will keep your moving from beginning to end (until Savasana). Expect movement, not just stretching. All levels are welcome to practice to your level of expertise. The word 'Vinyasa' means "breath-synchronized movment". In other words, you will move from one pose to the next as you continue to breathe your exhales and inhales. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. Vinyasa's strength is in its diversity, so there is a lot of room for your individual self to shine through.
Women's Group
A therapeutic group addressing concerns specific to women experiencing challenging life phases, transitions, and the feminine psyche. Group dynamics are a proven method to facilitate comprehensive understanding resulting in positive, healthy changes in thinking and behavior.
Yoga Workout
This class will allow you to practice YOUR practice as we move through Sun Salutations and other yoga asanas one after another. You will sweat in this class, learn about your self through the intelligence of your body, and learn poses that may not have beenwithin your realm of possibility. We will finish with relaxation and meditation.
